The mid-Summer Vert ramp event at Kona was bumping. I showed up late to start taking photos of the tail end of jam on Big Green. There was six or so photographers crowding the coping trying to get shots of skaters like Andy Mac and Mike McGill. Curren happened to be one of those photographers. He was patient and intentional with the shots he went for. Meanwhile, I was dipping and diving trying to get as many photos as possible as if to make up for lost time.

Later, I found I needed a few more photos for an article I was writing for Folio weekly about the next generation of vert skaters. Conveniently, Curren had reached out at some point and we had started chatting about the event. He sent over some photos of local rippers like COCO Waldo, and THEY WERE SICK! His contributions really pushed the article to a level it wouldn't have reached without them.

I believe every photographer should amplify their own perspective. Curren's does so by making use of black and white and high contrast style which guides the eye towards value while reducing the distractions of excess color. His style resembles medium format black and white photography of the film era, but with modern clarity.

Musician, Skater, Photographer, and more. Curren is a great dude and whether he likes to admit, he is a great part of the Northeast Florida skate/surf scene.
